"Why don't you ever walk anywhere, anyway; is floating really that much fun?"
#02 - Waltz
Zidane had asked jokingly, so when Kuja grabbed his hand, he'd laughed in surprise but went with it anyway.
#03 - Wishes
"Wishing will not change my fate, Zidane, let us not waste valuable time."
#04 - Wonder
Zidane can't help but wonder what's going through Kuja's head on quiet days, but he can't bring himself to ask.
#05 - Worry
Still, Zidane worries that Kuja's mental state isn't exactly the most stable, and is sure to keep a close eye, even if Kuja glares at him for it occasionally.
#06 - Whimsy
They both have gil enough to buy an island or more, but they don't really use it, flitting from one city to another without aim or direction, simply going wherever their whimsy decides.
#07 - Waste/Wasteland
Zidane is careful not to look at all accusing when they visit the demolished site of what used to be Burmecia, but from the corner of his eye, Kuja looks guilty enough that Zidane turns to let him have a moment to himself.
#08 - Whiskey and Rum
They're always the drinks that get to him the fastest, as well as loosen his tongue, so Zidane is always careful not to drink them around Kuja.
#09 - War
They never really talk about the fact that Kuja started basically a world war, except that Kuja apologizes quietly under his breath sometimes and Zidane pretends to not hear, figuring they'll talk when he's ready.
#10 - Weddings
They miss Freya and Fratley's wedding due to everyone having thought the both of them dead; when they miss Beatrix and Steiner's, too, Zidane looks a little sad, but when Kuja goes to apologize and remind him he can go, he waves it off, claiming he "never really liked weddings, anyway".
#11 - Birthday
Zidane's seventeenth birthday is a solemn affair, now that they know his eighteenth means Kuja's death.
#12 - Blessing
Zidane nearly screams when the dragon sniffs his hair unexpectedly; Kuja only laughs and says "he approves."
#13 - Bias
"Of course you like me the best out of 'the rest of the genomes', Zidane, I'm the only other one with a soul, save Mikoto who lacks emotions, and that is something of a rather large bias."
#14 - Burning
Kuja's eyebrow twitched, and Zidane nodded sheepishly, "Yeah yeah I know, how could I have burned eggs, but I did, so can you please put out the fire?"
#15 - Breathing
Zidane curls up half-atop Kuja's chest and just listens to him breathing; it's peaceful and quiet and they are content.
#16 - Breaking
Kuja's warning for Zidane to pay attention came a moment too late; a vase is in pieces on the floor before he can stop himself, and the now-former owner of said vase looks quite unhappy...
#17 - Belief
"Look, I know you don't believe me but we'll find a way to make it so that neither of us has to die so the other can live, okay?"
#18 - Balloon
Zidane sees it drifting up but knows he can't reach it; Kuja can, though, and the bright red balloon is back in the little girl's hands in moments, and the smile she gives them is so plainly happy that Kuja looks almost caught off guard for a moment.
#19 - Balcony
Zidane finds him on the balcony, staring up at the ruined remains of Terra; rather than attempt to break the silence, Zidane just quietly sits next to Kuja, legs dangling over the edge of the railing.
#20 - Bane
"Zidane if you do not stop yammering on this instant I am going to Ultima you into next week."
#21 - Quiet
Kuja doesn't talk nearly as much as he used to, and sometimes Zidane really hates the quiet because it means Kuja is brooding.
#22 - Quirks
Zidane had never really noticed before, but Kuja's got a few odd quirks; of course, he never brings them up in case they're linked to bad memories, but some of them are pretty cute if Zidane does say so.

"So are you going to kiss me now or - mmmmpphhh."
#24 - Quarrel
Zidane can't even remember what they're quarreling about, and some part of him is upset for wasting time fighting, but Kuja's just so good at it.
#25 - Quitting
"Zidane, just stop, I can't -" Kuja doesn't finish his sentence before they collapse together into a heap on the ground, and if Kuja's crying, Zidane pretends he doesn't notice.
#26 - Jump
Zidane can't be bothered to wait for the chocobo to land, jumping off midair and nearly smashing into Kuja in his haste.
#27 - Jester
Kuja scowls, "Besides, since you killed my little jesters it is only fair you take their place... Now go fetch me some fruit."
#28 - Jousting
Jousting on chocobos was one thing, but trying to joust on silver dragons was entirely another.
#29 - Jewel
Zidane had known that Kuja could summon, of course, but he didn't know that Kuja had not learned how from the jewels.
#30 - Just
Kuja is willing to atone for his crimes, because he feels that it is only just, but Zidane adamantly refuses to allow him to turn himself in.
#31 - Smirk
Zidane isn't sure he's ever been more happy to see a facial expression than he is about Kuja's smirk returning briefly over the Terra Master table, even when he loses.
#32 - Sorrow
There are times when thoughts of his impending mortality swell, and it's all Kuja can do to choke down bitterly anguished tears and wave Zidane away for a few minutes.
#33 - Stupidity
Kuja glowered at Zidane, drying his hair off with a quick spell before hissing "We are never following any of your plans again you moronic monkey."
#34 - Serenade
Zidane knows he's not the best singer, but when Kuja begins laughing slightly after having sulked all morning, Zidane is glad he tried.

"Yes, you are clearly a genius, Zidane, and I am so very sorry for having ever doubted your superior intellect..."

"My past isn't exactly squeaky clean either, you do know I was a pretty decent thief for a long time, right?"

"C'mon, can't you just perform a soliloquy or something so I know what you're thinking?"

They had ventured to the Black Mage village, but Kuja had certainly not wanted to stay long - they were on the road again first thing in the morning.

Zidane turns out to be terrible to share a bed with, tossing and turning and cuddling, and after the first time Kuja swears it will never happen again (only it does).

Kuja isn't used to living with others, and Zidane can certainly be annoying, but the fact that he does not feel quite so lonely as before is a plus.

Zidane had lost his map at some point or another, so he doesn't really know where they are, but when Kuja smiles gently at him from across the campfire, he figures it doesn't really matter.

Zidane hasn't joined Kuja's old quest for world destruction or anything; rather, they're both more of a neutral party now, both criminals, yet also high ranking members of society.

Zidane occasionally wishes that Kuja wouldn't hide his tail; it'd be so much easier to read his moods if it's nuances were there to give his thoughts away.

They have to restock every once in a while, and though they are cautious, there have been some close calls that have seen them nearly discovered.

The first time Zidane kisses Kuja, it feels as natural as breathing.

Kuja looks almost uncomfortable as he admits, "I feel as though I am corrupting your virtue, sometimes, even though I am aware that you were not exactly saintly, before..."

Certainly, Zidane and his friends had triumphed over death, and while that was a victory, beating Kuja didn't feel like one.

Really, Kuja had been the victor in their final confrontation, what with killing Zidane and his friends and all - it just hadn't seemed like a victory in the face of his overwhelming defeat from Garland's hands.
